According to the NGO, Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM), this is to push the Islamic authority into investigating the said allegation.
Its president, Azwanddin Hamzah, said Muhyiddin needs to be called in to explain if he had indeed pursued an affair with a married woman.
This is especially so as the group has in its possession a statutory declaration (SD) made by the woman’s husband confirming the relationship which the latter said had led to their high-profile divorce.
“This SD, which mentions Muhyiddin’s name multiple times, can be highlighted (as the main evidence). And Jawi needs to look into this,” Azwanddin told a press conference in front of Jawi’s office here today.
“This is not a work of fiction as the SD was produced in court.
“If it is false, then he (the husband of the woman Muhyiddin allegedly had the affair with) should face legal action for lying in court.”
Last June, blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin published the SD in question on his blog Malaysia Today and said it was proof of Muhyiddin’s affair.
The SD also claimed that the woman met Muhyiddin overseas and had received financial and material benefit from the latter.
Muhyiddin, however, has dismissed the allegation as baseless and malicious.
“All the allegations are malicious slander and were spread only to destroy my integrity. It smells of dirty politics,” he said.
Azwanddin has a solution for Muhyiddin. He invited the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president to an event where the latter can answer all questions regarding the affair.
“We want to know why Muhyiddin refused to sue the man who produced the SD if indeed it was a lie.
“The Malays can’t accept a leader with questionable behaviour.”
