Sothinathan endorsed the leadership of MIC president Dr S Subramaniam, after two years of campaigning against him with the faction of former president G Palanivel.
He was reported to have gathered almost 600 former MIC members to rejoin the party.
“MIC’s conflict is over, much has this party suffered in these past two years,” he was quoted as saying.
“We were lead down the wrong path and it blurred our vision when it came to party related matters. We have all accepted Dr Subramaniam as our leader and president,” said Sothinathan according to an online report.
Dr Subramaniam said the MIC would concentrate on strengthening the party as the Barisan Nasional prepares for the next general election “probably somewhere around August or September next year”.
