DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang wrote in his blog today that Sanusi had confirmed he would attend, together with Dr Mahathir.
Lim had called for the meeting in the wake of police investigations into former cabinet ministers Muhyiddin Yassin, Ahmad Husni and Shafie Apdal who spoke in Parliament recently about 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
He said the “insidious police encroachments” into the parliamentary privileges and immunity of MPs amounted to the “latest constitutional crisis on the doctrine of separation of powers”.
Lim asked: “Should MPs submit their speeches to the police for approval before they are delivered in Parliament. Is this what Malaysia has become” in the eighth year of Najib Razak’s premiership.
He said the statement by the Inspector-General of Police about “his arbitrary and unconstitutional action” amounted to send a message that the 1MDB issue was a banned subject in Parliament.
Khalid had said there was no immunity under the law for seditious statements made in Parliament.
Lim said MPs and Ministers, including former MPs and former Ministers, were distressed by the action of the Speaker, Pandikar Amin Mulia, in not defending the parliamentary privileges of MPs.
“He should himself go to court to protect and uphold parliamentary privileges and immunities and not to fold his arm to supinely await the outcome of the court decision,” Lim said.
