My client expects police to act promptly against the three just like how investigators swung into action after the NGOs lodged reports against the MPs, says lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla.

PETALING JAYA:
Former Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan today lodged a police report against Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia and two others for allegedly derailing parliamentary democracy.

Apart from Pandikar, two others cited in the report were Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) and Sahabat N87 Federal Territory branch, who had lodged separate police reports against three former Cabinet ministers who had brought up the 1MDB issue in Parliament last week.

Khairuddin’s lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla said his client wants police to probe the three stated in his report for allegedly derailing parliamentary democracy.

Haniff said the report also urged police to investigate JMM and Sahabat N87 for criminal intimidation.

“My client expects police to act promptly and efficiently against the three just like investigators swung into action when the two NGOs made their reports against the MPs,” he told FMT.

The three MPs are former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, ex-finance minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and former rural and regional development minister Shafie Apdal.

Pandikar held a press conference on Oct 27 where he said the three former ministers may have broken several laws such as the Official Secrets Act and the Sedition Act when they brought up the 1MDB issue while debating Budget 2017 in the Dewan Rakyat.

This resulted in the two NGOs lodging police reports against the three former ministers, alleging they had revealed government secrets.
