PETALING JAYA:
Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has vowed not to allow any kind of street protest in Johor.

“It is irresponsible for people to gather in public places and insult leaders and certain individuals.

“I would like to stress that I would not allow any kind of demonstration to take place in Johor,” he said, Star Online reported today.

The news portal said the Sultan felt such demonstrations would only disturb public order and create divisions among the people.

The Ruler spoke at the Himpunan Bangsa Johor held at the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium here.

He urged NGOs in the state as well as Johoreans not to take part in street protests.

Sultan Ibrahim said those not satisfied with the government should use the right channels to voice their unhappiness instead of taking to the streets.

“Go and meet your elected representatives, and if they fail to voice your grievances, then by all means choose a new leader who is capable of doing the job.”
