KUALA LUMPUR:
There is plenty of time to “be at war with one another” after the country’s enemy is defeated, says former Umno veteran Sanusi Junid.

Speaking out against his former party, Sanusi called upon all members of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) to unite in their common goal of defeating the enemy of the state, as well as the enemy of the Malay race.

“Understand that all the bad news about PPBM came from the ill-intentioned recipients of Umno’s dedak (animal feed),” he said in reference to the popular term to describe bribes.

“PPBM members need to remind themselves of all those in Umno who have become these ‘enemies’,” added Sanusi in a statement today, referring to those who had misused public properties and funds, and who burdened the rakyat by subjecting them to a high cost of living due to the implementation of among others, the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Sanusi who joined PPBM early last month, also urged his peers to forgive those who had “repented”, while learning to keep their emotions in check and respecting political leaders who had sacrificed for the country.

“Don’t be too quick to make enemies of your friends, and be friends with the enemies merely because of dedak,” he said.

His comments came following the surprise exit of former Batu Kawan Umno division vice-chief Khairuddin Abu Hassan, from PPBM last week.

Barisan Nasional had sprung on the news to deride the Umno splinter party as lacking the ability to succeed.

Khairuddin, who is a staunch ally of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the chairman of PPBM, said however that he merely needed to distance himself from party work in order to focus on litigation, especially charges of financial sabotage levelled against him and which were still pending in court.
