PRS president James Jemut Masing said the number of Dayaks employed did not reflect Sarawak’s ethnic diversity.

Masing, who is a deputy chief minister, said the current problem of imbalance in the civil service should not be placed on the shoulders of Chief Minister Adenan Satem whom he said had inherited the problem.

He the chief minister would deal with the matter and pledged “We will assist you”.

Speaking at the opening of the party’s delegates conference by Adenan today, Masing praised senior party leaders for making way for junior leaders to move up.

Speaking of himself Masing said that, with age catching up, he needed to have his own succession plan for the 12-year-old party.

“I’m already 67 years old and 33 years being an elected representative,” he said, adding that he could not be the party president forever.

PRS has 11 state assemblymen and six members of Parliament, making it the second largest Sarawak party after Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu.
