A Kesas spokesman contacted by Bernama confirmed that a member of the company’s motorcycle patrol had suffered minor injuries when he rode into a tripwire set across the motorcycle lane.
The tripwire had been set to incapacitate motorcyclits before robbing them, the spokesman said.
Kesas said in a statement that photographs of the tripwire trap had been handed over to the police for their investigations.
The trap was discovered during a routine patrol along the motorcycle lane at 5am on Friday. No motorcyclists had fallen prey.
Kesas said it would cooperate with the police in monitoring safety along the highway and the 24-hour motorcycle patrol service would be stepped up to prevent a repeat of the incident, it added.
