KUALA LUMPUR:
A faulty valve during processing is the main reason for bacterial contamination of the Marigold HL 200ml and one litre milk packs.

Consequently, the manufacturer, Malaysia Milk Sdn Bhd, had to recall the products from the market.

Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said investigations by the Health Ministry showed the company had taken corrective measures to fix the faulty valve.

“In addition, the Health Ministry is monitoring the recall and disposal process to ensure all products manufactured between the date of the complaints and the date when the faulty valve was being fixed are recalled,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

He said only Marigold HL Milk products with expiry dates before Nov 7 for Peninsular Malaysia and expiry dates before Nov 11 for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan were recalled with immediate effect. The public is advised not to consume these products and return them to the seller.

He said if consumers have any concerns regarding any food safety issue, they can contact the state and district health office or through the website http://moh.spab.gov.my or Facebook www.facebook.com/bkkmhq.
