A man who was reported to have attempted to commit suicide, when seen standing on the ledge outside a hotel room here on Sunday, was actually a member of a robbery gang, trying to flee the police.

One of them was caught in the room after a struggle with a police officer.

Another jumped from the third floor room through a window, causing him to break his leg and hurt his backbone.

“The third suspect tried to escape by hanging on to the window sill and the building edge, and then jumped on to the first floor roof of the hotel, but was hurt in his shoulder.

“The two suspects who are injured are receiving medical treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.
