LANGKAWI: The 2017 Budget will encourage the use of electric vehicles, according to Maximus Ongkili, the minister for energy and green technology.

He said the ministry had plans to increase the number of charging stations to encourage the use of electric vehicles.

“The use of electric vehicles has yet to be expanded as we need to promote infrastructure such as charging stations,” he told reporters yesterday.

The ministries of Finance, Transport and International Trade and Industry will be involved, he said.

The Budget for next year will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday.
