PETALING JAYA:
Scuffles were reported today between rival political supporters, and a few journalists were believed to have been roughed up when the reform group Bersih road convoy went through the Kuala Selangor area this evening.

In the melee, several journalists were harrassed and forced to delete photographs and video footage, according to Malaysiakini.

A Malaysiakini reporter was punched on her shoulder, and a videographer and woman reporter with The Star were made to delete photographs and video footage, and a male reporter roughed up when he tried to help his colleague, the report said.

According to the report, a Bersih supporter was harrassed after he had exchanged a handshake and hug with Umno Youth executive committee member Armand Azha Abu Hanifah.

A man who appeared beside Armand then shouted “Don’t disturb the people of Tanjung Karang!” and demanded that no photographs be taken.

Policemen nearby quickly intervened in the melee and urged the opposing groups of supporters to disperse.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Bersih road convoy had made a peaceful appearance at Sekinchan and distributed flyers at several locations.
