Wanted parang-wielding robber caught

Suspect had chased three women and robbed them at Ara Damansara on Oct 5.

PETALING JAYA: The parang-wielding robber seen in a viral video terrorising three women victims in a car has been caught.

Police nabbed the 17-year-old suspect at 10am at an apartment in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, theSundaily reported today.

A man, driving a white stolen Honda Accord pursued the women in the early morning of Oct 5.

In desperation, the three women sought help at a condominium at Ara Damansara.

But the robber, bearing a long parang, pursued them inside the compound of the condo and grabbed the handbag of one of the women before fleeing.

The women were late in reporting the incident and police were unaware of the robber or his getaway car.

At 5.40pm the same day, police saw the car driver acting suspiciously near Taman Desa Ria.

When he refused to stop, a high-speed chase ensued and police fired several shots, but the suspect abandoned the car and fled on foot.

Police found a parang and helmet in the car that was reportedly stolen in Kelana Jaya on Sept 23.
