Speaking at a press conference at Wisma Tan Kim San here today, Red Shirts movement legal adviser Mohd Imran Tamrin said the legal squad was made up of 21 lawyers who would provide their services probono.
“We have set guidelines for all Red Shirts members and supporters to follow on that day, but we realise that sometimes these little mishaps are unavoidable. So in the event something does occur, we will defend whichever Red Shirts member or supporter is involved,” he said.
Among the guidelines are that those attending are not to bring any weapon, not to have physical or violent contact with Bersih 5 participants, not to use words against race or religion, and to provide full cooperation to any relevant authorities on duty during the rallies.
Imran also urged the two Red Shirts participants who were involved in the motorcycle incident to turn themselves in to the police.
“You don’t have to worry because we will defend you and ensure that your rights are protected,” he said.
A widely-shared online video shows two motorcyclists in Bersih T-shirts being pelted with eggs by Red Shirts supporters as they rode into a street filled with Red Shirts supporters.
The men had then approached the Red Shirts supporters across the street. One man retreated after coming near, but the other man, whose motorcycle had crashed, was pelted with more eggs when he stood his ground.

The two Bersih supporters were part of a seven-week road convoy campaign to publicise the Bersih 5 rally in Kuala Lumur planned for Nov 19. The Bersih campaign is to press for the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Razak and for institutional reforms.
Police are still looking for the men responsible.
