Bersih Sabah chairperson Beverly Joeman said three youths on motorcycles had been following the convoy earlier.
They smashed the windows of two of the vehicles and punctured the tyre of another when the convoy stopped in the town centre this morning for convoy members to make a walkabout at Tawau general market.
“The three had tried to provoke the team, and one was pulled aside by Tawau police,” Joeman was quoted as saying. She commended Tawau police for their support in ensuring a (relatively) trouble-free convoy through the town.”
A police report has been lodged, NST Online reported.
The Bersih electoral reform group has carried out road convoys throughout the country since Oct 1.
In Sabah, the 10-car convoy made stops at Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Semporna and will move through Tawau, Kalabakan and Nabawan districts this weekend.
