GEORGE TOWN: A female clerk is seeking legal advice after a media report about two vehicles and three luxury motorcycles that cost more than her RM72,000 public housing apartment.

“Only one of the bikes belong to me,” she was quoted as saying.

Media reports on Friday said a RM114,900 BMW Motorrad GS, a RM53,900 Triumph Street Triple and a RM68,000 KTM 1050 Adventure were seen parked at the two blocks of flats.

The woman, who was not identified, told The Star newspaper that she was a general clerk and was eligible to stay in the Bukit Gambier apartment with her family.

The woman said she would seek legal advice and would furnish all her documents to the state government “should the need arise”, the report said.

On Friday, Parti Cinta Malaysia vice-president Huan Cheng Guan said that several flats were being occupied by unqualified people, following a news report that almost half of the 780 flats in two tower blocks had been let out.

Yesterday state housing executive councillor Jagdeep Singh Deo said all applicants for low-medium-cost flats must execute a statutory declaration that they were first-time house buyers with a monthly income not exceeding RM3,500.

The state government has power to repossess the flats, on which there is a 10-year moratorium against them being sold or rented.

He said abuse of the terms would not be tolerated.

Jagdeep was quoted as saying the state government had wanted flat buyers to disclose their ownership of motor vehicles but had failed to obtain the cooperation of the Road Transport Department.
