All members of ‘Women’s Boat to Gaza’ mission freed

All members of the humanitarian mission, including Malaysian activist Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan, have been released.

KUALA LUMPUR:
All the members of the humanitarian mission, “Women’s Boat to Gaza (WBG)”, who were detained by the Israeli authorities, have been released.

According to a Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) spokesperson last night, Al-Jazeera reporter from the United Kingdom Mina Harballou and Russian Hoda Rakhme were released but the others were still being detained at a detention centre near the Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv).

However, this morning, according to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which oversees the WBG mission,  all members of the WBG mission have been released, including Malaysian activist Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan.

Israeli soldiers detained the 10 activists and three crew members on board the Zaytouna-Oliva ship at 2.58pm local time (9.58pm Malaysia time) on Wednesday. The ship was towed to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

Apart from Dr Fauziah, the other activists were Madelaine Anne Habib (Australia), Synne Sofie Reksten (Norway), Emma Charlota Ringqvist (Sweden), Laureate Mairead MacGuire (Ireland), Marama Davidson (New Zealand), Jeannette Escanilla (Sweden), Mary Ann Wright (USA), Samira Douaifia (Algeria), Leign Ann Naidoo (South Africa) and Sandra Barrilaro (Spain).
