PETALING JAYA:
Muhyiddin Yassin’s former political secretary Shahruddin Md Salleh (pix above) has been appointed as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) secretary-general, while former banker Mohamed Salleh Bajuri has been named as its treasurer.

In a statement today, PPBM President Muhyiddin Yassin also revealed that Kamarudin Md Nor was appointed the party’s information chief.

PPBM was officially registered last month.

Shahruddin is Jorak assemblyman in Johor. His appointment means that the newly-formed party now has three elected representatives.

Muhyiddin is the Pagoh MP, while PPBM Vice-President Mukhriz Mahathir is assemblyman for Ayer Hitam.

Prior to him quitting Umno on July 4, Shahruddin was the Pagoh Umno division vice-chief.

Salleh is a chartered accountant and held positions as a trustee in various organisations between 1980 and 2002.

In 1982, he was named the Mayban Finance Berhad general manager, a post he held for six years, until 1987. He has also served senior positions in various corporate bodies and companies.

Kamarudin, who quit Umno last month after serving the party since 1973, is also the former Semerak assemblyman.

He is also the former Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim) secretary-general.
