BUTTERWORTH:
A 67-year-old construction worker was killed instantly after a jeep crashed into his house in Jalan Permatang Pasir here last night.

In the 10.30pm incident, the driver of the Suzuki Vitara jeep ploughed into the victim’s house after he lost control of the vehicle in an apparent attempt to avoid an oncoming car from the opposite direction.

Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the victim, Mat Rasid Mat Shariff, was sleeping on the sofa when the incident took place.

“We have tested the urine samples of the drivers of both cars, who are in their late 20s, to see if there are traces of drugs or alcohol,” Azhan said when contacted.

It was learnt that both the drivers sustained light injuries and are stable.

The case will be investigated for reckless driving under the Road Transport Act 1987.
