Malacca’s Women, Family Development and Family Committee Chairman Latipah Omar said all 19 occupants there would be relocated to other homes.
“We found the home not fit for taking care of elderly folks after meeting with occupants and the caretaker,” she said after visiting the home, accompanied by Welfare Department officials.
The 56-year-old caretaker of the home has denied abusing senior citizens there after footage of the alleged abuse went viral and was widely spread through WhatsApp, Star Online reported.
He told the newspaper a former staff member had recorded the footage to smear the reputation of the home.
However, this former staff member refuted the caretaker’s claims that she had been sacked and said she quit because she could no longer bear to see the folks bullied.
On Oct 4, the woman lodged a police report against the caretaker , claiming he frequently hit the elderly in the home and did not feed them properly although he received public donations.
