PETALING JAYA:
We’re opening for Usher? No way! These were the words of local band Back2Basixx, one of the opening acts for Grammy-winning artiste Usher tonight at the Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix after-race concert.

Band member Daryll Nathaniel said they first got the call in July. There had been no talk then of Usher coming to Malaysia.

“We didn’t believe it. We were at a show and someone told us that we might be opening for Usher, all of us went ‘there is no way that is happening’.

“Soon after, all the posters of Usher coming to Malaysia started coming out and we were quite taken aback by it. This is really happening,” Daryll told FMT earlier today while the band was on their way to the Sepang International Circuit where the concert will be held.

The band consists of Daryll, Aster Kyle G., Christian Theseira, Brendan Aloysius and Devon Chew.

They will perform their single ‘Senyuman’ which has already been on local radio for several months, and a new single ‘Party All Night’ that is currently being produced at the studio.

Joining Back2Basixx tonight will be Universal Music artistes Natasha Saas, Fazura, and Modescape.
