Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said this was a significant testament to the strength of Malaysia’s ties with its fellow civil aviation nations and colleagues around the globe.
“Indeed, we are greatly heartened that our active support and participation within ICAO has received such recognition.
“In addition, I had the privilege of addressing the esteemed Assembly regarding the future of global civil aviation,” he said in a statement issued today.
Liow emphasised the importance ICAO played in ensuring safety, efficiency and sustainability within the sector and reiterated Malaysia’s commitment towards supporting ICAO’s various initiatives towards this goal.
He said Malaysia had submitted the candidacy for re-election to the ICAO Council, and hoped the country would be able to continue playing a strong and active part in the important international organisation.
