If convicted, the accused faces a maximum of 30 years in jail and 10 strokes of the rotan, on each charge of rape.
The girl, a Sarawakian, was reportedly forced to endure weeks of hell with her father, after arriving from Lundu in August to further her studies in Kuala Lumpur.
On the very night she arrived and went to live with the father in a flat in Chow Kit, the man forced himself on her and subsequently raped her repeatedly over the next few weeks.
The man was reported to have also allegedly hit the girl with a hammer, throttled her and threatened her with a knife, when forcing himself on her.
The victim worked at a nearby wholesale shop near the Chow Kit police station. Her predicament came to light after a neighbour alerted the girl’s mother after hearing her cries.
Police raided the flat and rescued the girl and arrested the suspect following a police report by the mother.
