PETALING JAYA: The ‘Datuk Seri’ being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is attached to Tourism Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

A source in the MACC told FMT that the ‘Datuk Seri’, was a top official in the agency’s advertising division.

The source said the ‘Datuk Seri’ was being investigated for abuse of power. The MACC is investigating whether he had given jobs to purchase flight tickets to a company belonging to his family members.

FMT has been made to understand the amount involved is more than RM100,000.

Earlier today, Utusan Malaysia reported that a ‘Datuk Seri’ in his 50s was under investigation for abuse of power.

Meanwhile when contacted, Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz said he was not aware about the matter. However he said that the MACC should be allowed to carry out their investigation.

The ministry, he promised, will give its “utmost cooperation”.

“We have to let the MACC investigate the matter.”
