“This is real gangster-like behaviour. I believe he wants to scare people and I feel it should not have happened,” she told FMT when contacted.
Yesterday, it was reported that Chin feared for the safety of her family after Ali, better known as Ali Tinju, had warned Chin to “watch her back” or she may no longer “walk on this earth”.
Earlier today, Ali claimed he was misquoted in the report where he had threatened Chin, prompting FMT to release a transcript and the audio of him speaking to the FMT journalist.
Prior to this, Ali – who is the Gerakan Merah leader – had said he would make Chin’s “legs point upwards and her head point downwards to the ground”.
Chin reminded Ali that he should not have acted thuggishly in order to suppress freedom of speech.
“In the first place, he should know that this is not the way it is supposed to be.
“We shouldn’t be acting like gangsters in order to kill off freedom of expression and the right to assemble.”
She also expressed dismay over the silence by the authorities in this matter.
“Whereas they were so quick to respond to other comments, especially in the case of former journalist Sidek Kamiso.”
Sidek was arrested at his home late at night over allegations of insulting Islam following a tweet on the death of PAS spiritual leader Haron Din.
