Ministry team to find out about student woes in Egypt

Delegation to get the full picture after media reports of 150 students unable to pay total tuition fees of RM4.5million.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A team of officials leaves tomorrow on a four-day visit to Egypt to help Malaysian students facing difficulty in financing their studies.

The higher education ministry said in a statement the delegation would be headed by the ministry’s deputy secretary-general, Kamel Mohamed .

“The goal of the delegation is to gather facts to make out the full picture of the issues being faced.

“They will also seek to verify the information of students who need help and their universities, so that assistance can be provided as soon as possible,” it said.

On Thursday, the media reported that 150 Malaysian students studying medicine, dentistry and pharmacy in Egypt faced expulsion for failure to pay tuition fees totalling RM4.5 million overall.
