Siti Noor Radiah wins bronze in long jump at Paralympic Games

She records a jump of 5.20 metres in her third attempt and breaks her Asian Para Games record of 5.10 metres done in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.

KUALA LUMPUR: Siti Noor Radiah Ismail presented the Malaysian contingent with a bronze medal in the T20 women’s long jump at the Rio Paralympic Games, yesterday.

She recorded a jump of 5.20 metres in her third attempt breaking her Asian Para Games record of 5.10 metres set in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.

Meanwhile, another Malaysian athlete, Siti Noor Iasah Mohamad Ariffin finished in fourth place with a leap of 4.91 metres.

The gold medal went to Mikela Ristoki of Croatia (5.79 metres), while the world and Paralympics record holder from Poland, Karolina Kucharczyk had to be content with the silver medal with 5.55 metres.

Kucharczyk’s world record in the event was 6.09 metres set at the IPC Athletics Championship in Lyon, France in 2013 while the Paralympic Games record was 6.00 metres set at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
