PETALING JAYA: A new integrity pledge will be signed by 90 contractors to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the mayor, Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz, announced today.

The pledge is a joint effort between DBKL and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which had previously resulted in 44 DBKL contractor companies signing the corporate integrity pledge in April.

This follows the recent formation of a joint task force to identify and fix weaknesses in DBKL’s systems and procedures after several government officials were investigated recently for abuse of power and embezzlement.

MACC said the team had identified five issues related to practices, systems and work procedures involving five departments in City Hall.

The issues in question comprise management of privatisation housing projects, guidelines on property purchase by officers and staff, ownership and declaration of assets, management of People’s Housing Project and Public Housing and the monitoring of land development in the capital.
