‘Useless’ PAS to lose Kelantan in GE14, says Zaid

PETALING JAYA:
Zaid Ibrahim predicts that PAS will be dealt a major blow in Kelantan come the 14th General Election (GE14) as the state needed politicians who could resolve economic and social issues.

Writing in his blog today, Zaid said PAS must realise that one could not administer the east coast state by quoting “hadith and Quranic verses”. Hadith are the sayings of Prophet Muhammad.

The former Kota Baru lawmaker said this was why he felt that Kelantanese will go against the grain in GE14.

“They do not wish to be taken for a ride any longer,” he wrote, adding that Kelantanese only voted for the Islamist party because they loved its late spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and not because of the party’s current crop of leaders.

Zaid, who had also labelled PAS “useless”, said the party did not have leaders who could champion a worthy cause nor leaders who were technocrats.

He added that PAS leaders also did not know how to resolve issues such as flooding and providing clean water supply to its people, nor how to manage waste.

“So they sell Islam. They want hudud and to nab women in nice clothes. They are not interested in developing the state, so they sell timber to the Chinese ‘taukes’.”

He then urged PAS Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s supporters to join Amanah, saying that the Islamist party are more interested in getting rid of its members who might be keen to work with the other Opposition parties “for the greater good”.

Tuan Ibrahim had in July proposed for a ceasefire among Opposition parties to focus on the real enemy.
