M’sian faces death penalty for drugs in Indonesia

He is accused of trafficking into Indonesia 11.3kg of crystal meth.

PETALING JAYA:
Prosecutors have demanded the death penalty for a Malaysian, Ong Bok Seong, 67, in a case involving the trafficking of 11.3kg of crystal methamphetamine.

One of the prosecutors, Ulfan Yustian Arif, was quoted by Antara news agency as saying this was the third time Ong was involved in smuggling drugs into the country.

The Malaysian was previously arrested for smuggling 2kg of crystal meth into the country.

An Indonesian, Abang Hendry Gunawan aka Een, was charged with Ong in the same case at the Sanggau District Court in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Prosecutors are demanding 20 years in prison and a one billion rupiah fine for the alleged accomplice.

Jakarta Times said the lawyer for both defendants, Munawar Rahim, said his team was preparing a defence at the next hearing.

There was no mention when the court will resume hearing the case.
