PETALING JAYA: R Sri Sanjeevan of Malaysian Crime Watch (MyWatch) took the opportunity to extend birthday greetings to the nation’s top cop Khalid Abu Bakar while taking a jab at him for his ties to several firearms-related businesses.

“Happy 59th birthday to @KBAB51, may your family receive approval for several new firearm companies,” the MyWatch chairman tweeted to Khalid’s Twitter handle.

Sanjeevan repeated his remark to the Inspector-General of Police on Facebook, saying he hoped Khalid would obtain the approval before the latter retired next year.

The battle of words between the duo began last month, when Sanjeevan claimed that Khalid’s brother, Abdullah Abu Bakar, was among the directors of the Unggul Shooting Academy.

The company, he alleged, was formed merely six months after Khalid was made Inspector-General of Police.

This came after allegations that Khalid’s daughter and brother-in-law were the co-owners of Nilai Arms and Ammunitions Sdn Bhd, a company selling firearms.

Khalid in response, called the crime buster a “criminal”, after the latter was charged for multiple offences involving extortion.

Sanjeevan also claimed trial for allegedly using fake academic qualifications with the intent of cheating.

At the time of publication, efforts to contact Khalid were unsuccessful.
