Sara, the daughter of blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, said she noticed that a number of people who “whacked” her not only failed to counter her points, but had made disparaging remarks about her in relation to her father’s views and actions.
Ironically, she said, these critics were the same people who defended DAP’s Sungai Pinang Assemblywoman Lim Siew Khim by saying she should not be blamed for what her father did.
Lim’s father, Lim Keat Seong, 68, is currently being investigated for his alleged involvement in a bribes for affordable homes scandal in Penang.
The Penang DAP has stated that it will not probe Siew Khim over the matter as she was not involved in it.
“When it comes to one of their own, you do not carry the sins of your father. I, however, am guilty of the sins of my father,” she told FMT.
Sara went on to state that her decision to speak out yesterday was due to such hypocrisy which, she noted, had been going on “for too long”.
Those in the Opposition, she added, set certain standards for others but exempted themselves from these rules.
“I am what I am and I do not pretend to be what I am not. At least I am honest enough to not wear a mask like most Malaysians do.
“I am a Malay who went to university without a single sen of government money.
“Then we have Malays who went to ITM (Institut Teknologi Mara) or who benefited from the NEP (New Economic Policy) who claim they are fighting for justice and equality for all Malaysians.
“That is the height of hypocrisy. If you want to debate me, then focus on the issues, not attack my bloodline. Yes, I am the daughter of Raja Petra and am proud of it. So live with that.”
Dyana is an UiTM law graduate who in 2014 earned the ire of Umno leaders for questioning UiTM’s Bumiputera policy.
Sara had yesterday urged Dyana to explain in what way Umno had cheated the Malays as her allegation was a serious one.
In a Facebook post she argued that one cannot accuse another of cheating without offering details and evidence to back the allegation.
Sara also asked the former Teluk Intan by-election candidate if the latter had based her claim on well-researched statistics or if it was merely a spin.
Sara’s Facebook post was in response to Dyana’s allegation that Umno had cheated the Malays, and that Umno had consistently insulted the Malays by using fear as a tool for political gain, by saying the Malays would be destroyed if Umno were to lose power.
