KUALA LUMPUR: A 50km police chase to detain three men ended on a “high” note near the Bandar Bukit Mahkota toll plaza in Kajang, Selangor, yesterday.

Upon checking the getaway car, a police team found an assortment of drugs in 32 packets.

Police nabbed two of the suspected drug traffickers while the third managed to escape.

Dang Wangi Police Chief ACP Zainol Samah said the packets contained heroin, syabu and ganja.

The Proton Saga was believed to have been fitted with false number plates.

He said the chase began from Lorong Haji Hussein, off Jalan Chow Kit, at 5.15pm where the three men were spotted behaving suspiciously in a car by policemen in a patrol car.

“Despite an order to stop, the driver of the Proton Saga sped towards Jalan Ipoh before entering the North-South Expressway (south-bound).

“The policeman radioed the Sentul Motorcycle Patrol Unit for back-up before a chase ensued.

“During the chase, the police had to fire several shots as the Proton Saga driver attempted to graze the motorcycles of policemen who had joined in the chase,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.

Zainol said the driver later entered the Bandar Bukit Mahkota exit before stopping the vehicle not far from a toll plaza. He said the two suspects were nabbed while the third escaped.
