The de facto Law Minister refused to be drawn into a debate on what DAP’s Sungai Pinang Assemblyman Lim Siew Khim should do, saying it was not right for her to comment.
Azalina said that due process should take its course, and stressed that anyone accused of any wrongdoing was innocent until proven guilty.
“Anyone can make an allegation against another person, “If I’m not married, people make allegations, if I marry, then people will also make allegations,” she quipped.
She added that even when someone was charged with a crime, they were still innocent until proven guilty by the court.
Earlier this week, MCA Religious Harmony Bureau head Ti Lian Ker called on DAP to hold Lim responsible for her father’s alleged actions involving possible bribery.
Lim has admitted that her 68-year-old father was one of the accused in a secretly-taped video which showed a man, with a broker and a “deceived” home buyer talking about settlement terms after a failed home purchase.
However, Lim has refuted allegations that her father solicited bribes from those seeking low-cost housing units, and said that he did not have any power to influence the State Government’s decisions.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has since initiated investigations into the allegation.
