Penang Gerakan Vice-Chairman Oh Tong Keong said the video, which was released on the Penang Kini Facebook page — showed a man believed to be Sungai Pinang DAP assemblyperson Lim Siew Khim’s father, Lim Keat Seong, in a “dispute” over the payment of a “bribe”.
Oh said upon analysis of the video, Keat Seong was alleged to have collected payments for the housing units, but failed to deliver on his promise.
“They (Keat Seong’s clients) have been told to pay RM260 for a form and later ‘Agent Lim’ or ‘Uncle Lim’ would confirm they would get an affordable unit.
“However, based on the video, it appears that Uncle Lim’s clients have come back to ask him to return the money owed, as the promise of an affordable home never materialised,” he said in a press conference at the Gerakan headquarters here today.
Siew Khim, when contacted, said she would hold a press conference to clarify the issue.
Meanwhile, Penang Gerakan Anti-Corruption and Land Sub-Committee Chief Hng Khoon Leng said the issue was nothing new and claimed he had received many tip-offs on the matter.
“We have received (a lot of) info on this, but did not have proof.
“Today, we have a video confirming this. We are now confident in saying that most state housing projects involve corrupt practices,” he said at the same press conference.
Oh, concurring with Hng, said these middlemen were depriving eligible and deserving applicants from owning affordable housing.
Oh and Hng advised those who paid to apply for state housing properties to lodge complaints with Gerakan immediately or call Hng at 012-409-8718.
