PETALING JAYA:
Various government agencies are involved in investigating the crane crash that killed a passing motorist in Jalan Raja Chulan on Thursday.

It has already been reported that the police and Department of Occupational Health and Safety (DOSH) are probing, especially the identity of the crane driver, who fled after the accident and is still missing.

The crane operator, by law, must be Malaysian and the crane is not supposed to operate anywhere outside the building hoarding, especially in the space directly above the busy road.

Despite that, the crane hook became detached and hit the stationary car 20 storeys below, killing the driver, administrative executive Chin Khoon Sing, 23.

Today, Works Minister Fadillah Yusof told Star Online that the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) was also investigating if the site workers were competent and qualified.

”We want to ensure they are qualified, registered with the CIDB and possess a green card.

”If not, we can take action against the workers and also the contractor for hiring incompetent and unregistered workers.

”As for the company, it has to be registered with CIDB in a certain class and category that allows it to conduct the operations at the site.”
