PETALING JAYA:
A Malaysian woman has been reported to have died in a car crash in Halls Creek, Western Australia, last Friday.

According to Australian media reports, the 24-year-old woman was travelling in a Hyundai station sedan with several other tourists on the Great Northern Highway, towards Halls Creek on Friday afternoon, when the vehicle went out of control and rolled over.

The woman, who was not named, died on the spot.

Three other Taiwanese women, aged between 21 and 27, including the driver, were rushed to the hospital with injuries sustained in the accident.

According to a report in Australia’s Sunday Times, data at the Royal Perth Hospital showed that 334 international visitors were admitted to the hospital between 2012 and 2015 as a result of road trauma, with about 40 per cent being from Asia.

The daily also reported that a new road safety campaign was initiated for tourists last month after a French tourist knocked down a motorcyclist after swerving “the wrong way.”

Australian authorities are now seeking witnesses to the Halls Creek crash.
