KUALA LUMPUR:
Parents and members of the public have been told to lodge complaints with the District Education Department if they have information of private kindergartens which have yet to register with the Education Ministry (MOE).

Kuala Lumpur Education Department’s Private Education sector head Mohd Najib Ab Rahman said the cooperation was important to ensure children attended classes under the National Pre-school Standard Curriculum set by the ministry.

“They need to register with the ministry as MoE is monitoring the curriculum and requires the enrolment of pupils entering pre-school according to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) set by the ministry,” he told a press conference after attending the 2016 Kidz Running programme here today.

The Kidz Running programme is aimed at raising the enrolment of children in pre-school.

Under the programme, 129 vehicles have toured the country in a convoy since Aug 25 to raise public awareness on pre-school education and the importance of sending children to kindergartens registered with the ministry.

Parents had been advised to check on the status of private kindergartens before registering their children through the National Pre-school Information System (SMPK) at https://smpk.moe.gov.my.
