T’ganu: Education programme on despite lack of funds

Ahmad Razif says state cannot continuously depend on Federal Government's allocation through its oil royalty.

BESUT: Terengganu is still capable and determined to continue with its education programme, despite having a lesser allocation from the Federal Government, says Terengganu Menteri Besar, Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

He said the state government had concurred with this decision for the benefit of its children and to focus on helping them excel in their examinations.

“The state is aware that it cannot continuously depend on the Federal Government’s allocation through its oil royalty as sooner or later it will not be provided, as what we are currently facing”, he said.

He said this in his speech when officiating the sports championship held between the staff of Teachers’ Training Institute Malaysia (IPGM) at the Sultan Mizan IPG Campus, here today.

Ahmad Razif also recounted how Terengganu had once undergone a difficult period when allocations were at its lowest, resulting in the state being ranked the worst in the field of education.

He said, learning from that bitter experience, the state government now practiced frugality in its expenses and was able to carry out more streamlined and insightful planning.
