The restaurant raked in over RM2,000 in profit from increased business today when about 2,000 people held a protest march from Masjid Negara and Sogo shopping centre to Dataran Merdeka.
“If this is how it is going to be like, then there can be protests like this every day,” said Rohani Taufir Muhamad. “Then (I) can always make a lot of profit,” she said while laughing.
Rohani, who has managed the restaurant for over three years, was astounded by the extraordinary turnout.
The rally was held to press the authorities to identify and arrest the unnamed “Malaysian Official One” mentioned in US court documents relating to the alleged embezzlement of billions from 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
Ice-cream hawker Hafiz Saad was another one who benefited from the turnout. He said that the RM400 profit he made today was enough to allow him to take a week-long break.
“It was fun to have met so many people, and the ice-cream sold like hot cakes,” he said.
