BANTING:
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today declined to reply to reporters’ enquiries about data on corruption in the Football Association of Malaysia handed over to him by the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Khairy was approached by reporters at the Fit Selangor programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Changgang here, Bernama reported.

Yesterday, when granting Khairy an audience at Istana Bukit Pelangi, Johor, Tunku Ismail handed over a pen drive that allegedly contained incidents of corrupt activities in FAM.

Tunku Ismail had said in July that the portable drive contained information about “activities within FAM, the media personnel that the FAM always use, including former footballers in Malaysia, the amount of money taken by FMLLP and given to the FAM as well as a rubbish auditor’s report given to me by my high-ranking friends in Kuala Lumpur”.

Last year, the prince had questioned the rationale behind a deal for setting up the Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership between FAM and a London-based company for running the M-League.

He had called for the teams to be given a higher percentage of M-League revenue than the 30 per cent announced, and also questioned why FAM retained 40 per cent.
