In a brief statement published on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, Tunku Ismail, popularly referred to as TMJ, said he decided to hand over the pen drive to the youth and sports minister as he did not have “any problem with FAM anymore”.
Khairy had earlier today met the Crown Prince of Johor at Istana Bukit Pelangi, Johor Bahru.
“FAM is not His Royal Highness’ problem. HRH only wishes to take care of his small club, JDT,” the statement said.
Last month, Tunku Ismail claimed that he possessed information stored in a pen drive – thanks to “high-ranking friends” – that he said could land FAM in the soup for its misdeeds.
This includes information and activities within the FAM, the media personnel that the FAM always uses, former footballers in Malaysia, and the amount of money taken by Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership and given to the FAM.
TMJ’s claim was made in response to criticism by his detractors, especially those linked with FAM.
Tunku Ismail had also said he found it “strange” that people had entertained “30 years of corruption” within the national football body.
