
He said in a short statement issued today that he was also withdrawing from the Citizens’ Declaration secretariat.
Tamrin, who is also the son of former deputy prime minister Abdul Ghafar Baba, did not elaborate on his decision.
“After careful consideration I have decided not to join the new party being formed by Muhyiddin Yassin,” he said.
“I am also pulling out of the secretariat of the Citizens’ Declaration led by Mahathir.
“This decision is final and will take effect starting today.”
According to Malay Mail Online, Tamrin insisted on keeping his reasons to himself, but had not ruled out the possibility that he would join other political parties.
“I have deliberated over this for some time. I don’t need to give a reason, but I can confirm that the statement was mine,” he said.
