Chegubard makes more allegations on Paya Indah

Selangor Exco Elizabeth Wong however says Chegubard has issued too many inaccurate media statements on the issue but the state will fully cooperate with MACC all the same.

PUTRAJAYA: Sacked PKR member Badrul Hisham Shahrin today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali  over the purported re-zoning of the Paya Indah Wetlands.

Badrul, better known as Chegubard, said he had in his possession evidence proving the state government had lied when it stated that the popular recreational park’s “agricultural” status had not been changed to “pembangunan” (“development”).

Armed with this evidence and a booklet containing a simplified version of his findings, Chegubard urged the MACC to take his allegations as seriously as they did those pertaining to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan’s case.

He also told a press conference at the MACC building here today that the main question was whether the case would ever “see the light of day” as it involved a leading construction company with government links.

The construction company was dragged into the picture following his discovery that it had bought Salak Land Development Sdn Bhd, which owns the particular lot in question, Lot 68054, in Mukim Tanjong Dua Belas, an area that is conserved under the Ramsar Convention.

Chegubard, who is also leader of Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia also alleged that Azmin “owns” a “proxy in the development company.”

This proxy, he revealed, was Azmin’s close friend and a Gombak PKR member.

Chegubard also presented to the media a series of screenshots showing several WhatsApp messages that this person allegedly sent last year to an Executive Council (Exco) member of the state government requesting support for his proposal to change the land’s status.

“Azmin is the head of the Gombak division and this proves that there may be a conflict of interest.”

Selangor Exco Elizabeth Wong, in response, said she welcomed Chegubard’s move to lodge a report with the anti-graft agency, although it was a tad too late.

“I had advised them as early as Aug 2 to immediately file their complaint, but they took such a long time and (meanwhile) released all sorts of inaccurate media statements over the matter.

“Whatever it is, the state government is ready to fully cooperate with the MACC, to provide the truth to the people of Selangor,” she said in a statement today.
