
In the 2.15 am incident, the man, who had two more men with him in a Mercedes Benz, opened fire while the victim was in the shop. There were 20 other customers then.
Kelantan Police Chief Ab Rahman Ismail said the victim, aged 22, was rushed to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, here for treatment and he was reported to be in stable condition.
He said according to information obtained from witnesses, the three men came in a silver Mercedes Benz.
“One of the witnesses said the car was passing by the shop when a man suddenly came out and fired two shots.
“As a result, the victim was injured in the right calf after being shot randomly from a distance of five to 10 metres,” he told reporters at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters here today.
Ab Rahman said a witness also reported that the suspects’ vehicle later sped off towards Pasir Hor here, but he failed to take down the car registration number as customers were running for safety.
He said from initial investigations at the scene, police recovered a piece of metal believed to be a bullet as well as a bullet hole in a car nearby.
