PADANG RENGAS: Umno members have been urged to start working towards securing victory in the next general election with a focus on registering the 4.2 million people qualified to vote.
Puteri Umno leader Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the number was based on Election Commission statistics up until January. Of that total number, 2.4 million were Malays.
“This is not a small number as it can decide a party’s victory or defeat,” she said when opening Padang Rengas Umno’s divisional delegates conference.
The division is headed by Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, who is tourism minister.
The delegates urged all Umno members to work together to stop the continuous attacks being made against Umno president Najib Razak, to avoid unwanted internal crisis.
They also suggested the government start a scheme for vehicles service centres, as a platform for Malay entrepreneurs to move forward in the servicing business.
