SHAH ALAM:
Police have given their assurance that there has been no cover-up in the investigations of a fight involving 11 students from two schools in Klang on July 27, the news of which has gone viral on Facebook.

Selangor CID chief Mohd Adnan Abdullah said based on information received on July 27, police picked-up six students on July 29 and five more on July 30.

“The investigation paper has been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor who decided to charge the nine students. However, they have not been charged in court and all were released on police bail,” he told a press conference at Selangor Police headquarters, here today.

Mohd Adnan said the incident which involved two groups of 14-year-old students erupted when some among them started mocking each other.

The case was investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

Following the incident, police received reports from two families of the suspects, alleging that their children had been assaulted and hurt by the police on July 27.

Police have so far recorded statements from eight people to assist in investigations including those who arrested the suspects.

The case was investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

“Investigation of the case is expected to be completed today and (a report) will be sent to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for instruction,” said Mohd Adnan.

Police were still waiting for the medical reports of the students who claimed they were hurt while in police custody.
