Four men charged with rioting against Kedah FC supporters

GEORGE TOWN: Four men claimed trial in the magistrate’s court here today to rioting against supporters of the Kedah Football team after the Super League match between Penang and Kedah on Tuesday.

The four accused are hospital attendant Ruzairi Abd Rahman, 31, student Muhammad Fizry Sukor, 21, private sector employees, Shamsuri Aman Rusli Aman, 35, and Muhammad Hafiz Abdullah, 24.

They are alleged to have committed the offence with several others still at large, at Stadium Bandaraya and Jalan Datuk Keramat here at 11.30pm on July 26, 2016.

The charge under Section 147 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of two years or a fine, or both, on conviction.

Magistrate L. Umma Devi set RM2,300 as bail in one surety for each of the accused and Sept 26 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Azura Zulkiflee appeared for the prosecution while counsel Mohd Izad Mohd Zambri represented Ruzairi, Shamsuri and Muhammad Hafiz. Counsel R. Sankara Krishna represented Muhammad Fizry.
