Two school students among 16 held for drug trafficking

Subang Jaya district police chief says cannabis worth more than RM33,000, was seized during the raids.

SUBANG JAYA:
Two secondary school students were among 16 men rounded-up for suspected drug trafficking in four raids conducted by the police in Bandar Sunway here last Tuesday and Thursday.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari said 11,691gm of cannabis, worth more than RM33,000, was seized during the raids.

In the first raid on Tuesday, he said a 24-year-old man was arrested for alleged possession of 521gm of the drug, adding that this led to the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect at another location for alleged possession of 251gm of the same drug.

Police also conducted a raid at a condominium the same day, leading to the arrest of 12 other suspects, including two foreigners, and the seizure of 444gm of cannabis.

All 14 suspects tested positive for drugs, he said, adding that their arrests led to the arrest of two others last Thursday.

He said the two men who were arrested on Thursday were aged 19 and 24 and that the police also recovered 10,475gm of cannabis in the car they were travelling in.

All the suspects are in remand for seven days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which provides for a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
