KUALA LUMPUR:
The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) does not rule out the possibility on the existence of a small group of hired killers in the light of the several shooting incidents lately.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said among the hired killers were members of secret societies.

“Yes, I do not rule out the possibility that several individuals are being hired to shoot and kill people and most of them are locals.”

He said this to reporters after attending the closing of the 2016 International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) IGP Cup and PDRM Open Shooting Championship at the General Operation Force Shooting Range in Cheras, here yesterday.

Noor Rashid said police were in the midst of gathering information to identify those involved in the killer-for-hire activities.

On the latest case involving a man who was shot dead at the Jalan Taman Ibu Kota traffic light junction in Setapak on Wednesday, he said a special team had been set up to hunt the suspects.

“We are confident the suspects will be identified soon,” he said.

In the incident at 3.35 pm on Wednesday, the 43-year-old man, who was driving a Honda Accord, was shot at 10 times at close range when he stopped at the traffic light.
